About our repointing service.
Over the years, the mortar in your brick or stone walls slowly weathers away, leaving open joints that let water into the wall and frost attack the bricks themselves. Good repointing is the single most effective thing you can do to extend the life of an older property.
We rake out failed mortar to the correct depth using hand tools or a slim mechanical chaser, brush out the joints and repoint with a carefully matched mortar mix. On Victorian and older properties we generally use a lime-based mortar that allows the wall to breathe as originally intended.
Colour matching is carried out on-site using sample panels before work starts on the main elevation, so the final result blends in with the rest of the building. Finishing styles include struck, weathered, bucket-handle and flush, to match what is already there.
All scaffolding, dust sheeting and clean-up is included, and we are happy to combine repointing with chimney or gable-end repairs for a single tidy project.
